Reaching the berry patch, Grandmother sat down under a great oak tree, claiming she needed a rest after the long walk. She invited Lucy to join her. Again, Lucy acquiesced, at first sitting stiffly next to her grandmother and then slowly snuggling close and laying her head on Grandmother’s shoulder. More of the weight slid off her chest as she sat there, eyes closed, feeling the gentle rise and fall of Grandmother’s chest as she breathed in the beauty of the morning before them.
